EATING YOUR WAY TO CLEARER SKIN PT 3

 In Portland News

Ok, we have finally made it to the third and final entry in our series about eating foods that promote vibrant, youthful, beautiful skin. We have covered foods for dull, dry, oily and acne effected skin types. This week we are covering the one thing the all of us will be effected by indiscriminately, aging. While some of us age more gracefully than others, taking care of ourselves and staying healthy is the ultimate tactic for keeping you looking as youthful as possible. So, with that said, let’s get to the foods!

Foods like kale, sweet potatoes, broccoli, spinach, yellow and red peppers, red chili, butternut squash, asparagus, and pumpkin are great sources of Vitamin A. Similar to dull and dry skin, aging skin tends to lack adequate collagen production and these foods help boost your body’s collagen production which will have a revitalizing effect on your skin.

Strawberries, papaya, kiwi, pineapple, red bell peppers, guava, cauliflower, tangerine, green bell peppers, and grapefruit carry a great amount of Vitamin C. Having Vitamin C in your system helps eliminate free radicals which can wreak havoc on your internal body, which will in turn effect the exterior of your body. Vitamin C also helps to boost collagen production as well as the production of elastin. This combination builds up the resilience of your skin.

Vitamin E is vital to the health of your skin and foods like sunflower oil, safflower oil, nuts and seeds, tomatoes, turnip greens, spinach, mustard greens, peanut butter, wheat germ. Good levels of Vitamin E help your skin’s oil level balance out furthering the youthful glow effect that most of us seek. Sugar is a food that should be avoided as it can cause skin to dimple and causes premature wrinkles.

Now you have the knowledge, we say GO EAT!!!!!!
